Dr Rafik Omar entered academia in 2014 after a successful career with multinational companies in commodity trading, trade execution, supply-chain management and international trade finance, gaining extensive global business management experience. Since then, he has taught finance and economics at several UK universities and is regularly invited as a guest lecturer on apprenticeship programmes for employees of leading UK and international investment banks. His teaching spans corporate finance, Islamic banking and investment, money and banking, and global financial markets, informed by his industry expertise. Dr Omar's research focuses on energy and commodity price dynamics and the development of innovative Islamic finance instruments and structures.
