ALECSO Calls For Adopting Comprehensive Arab Approach To Integrate Children With ASD
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
TUNIS, Oct 7 (KUNA) -- The education expert at the Arab League of Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) Dr. Abdullah Al-Majidel called on Tuesday for adopting a comprehensive approach to integrating children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the Arab world.
This came during the opening of a study day on the integration of children with autism in the Arab world, aimed at integrating them into educational curricula, and working to develop practical solutions to help ensure the rights of children.
The event was in participation of specialists in education, health and social affairs from Arab countries.
Dr. Al-Majidel stressed the need for paying attention to children with ASD in the Arab world, as the world is witnessing a massive spread in the number of children affected by ASD, and that educational integration will contribute to children's behavioral and social skills.
The concept of autism was first introduced in 1911 by scientist Eugen Bleuler as a complex developmental disability that occurs before the age of three, characterized by a disorder in brain function that leads to impaired development of language, social and intellectual abilities. (end)
