Srinagar- In a stern warning to Pakistan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday said that the neighbouring country must stop sponsoring terrorism on its soil if it wants to maintain its place on the world map.

Addressing soldiers at Anupgarh in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district, Gen. Dwivedi stressed that India's restraint during Operation Sindoor would not be repeated in any future military engagement.“India is fully prepared this time. We will act decisively to ensure Pakistan understands the consequences of continuing to support terrorism,” he said.

The Army chief recalled that during Operation Sindoor, India targeted nine terrorist bases inside Pakistan, seven by the Army and two by the Air Force, while taking care to avoid harming ordinary citizens.“We had aimed to strike only terrorist hideouts. If Pakistan stops sponsoring terrorism, there will be no reason to target these areas,” he added.

Gen. Dwivedi urged Indian soldiers to remain alert and ready for action, saying the nation's struggle is a collective responsibility. He also highlighted the role of civilians living near the border, calling them“soldiers in their own right” and emphasizing their support as vital to national security.

The Army chief's statement comes amid rising tensions along the Line of Control and underlines India's firm stance against cross-border terrorism.
