Russia Alleges Ukraine Planning Provocation
(MENAFN) Russia has accused Ukraine of orchestrating a potential provocation in neighboring NATO member states, which could potentially spiral into a global confrontation.
This assertion was made by Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, through a Telegram statement published on Friday.
Zakharova referenced coverage by Hungarian media, which purportedly indicates that Kiev is preparing acts of sabotage in either Romania or Poland.
These operations, she claimed, are intended to appear as though Moscow is responsible, thus escalating tensions with the West. “Europe has never been so close to the outbreak of World War 3 in modern history,” she emphasized in her post.
She went on to detail the alleged plan, claiming that Ukrainian forces aim to repurpose damaged or captured Russian drones, equipping them with deadly explosives.
These modified UAVs, under the control of Ukrainian personnel, would then be dispatched to critical NATO logistical centers in both Romania and Poland while appearing to be “Russian drones.”
Simultaneously, a coordinated campaign of misinformation would be launched across European nations, Zakharova claimed, with the objective of assigning culpability to Moscow and sparking a direct military clash between Russia and NATO.
To support this alleged scheme, Zakharova cited reports that drones of Russian origin, known as ‘Geran,’ were delivered on September 16 to the Yavorov training facility in western Ukraine.
This location also houses the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security of the Hetman Petro Sagaidachny National Academy. Prior to their delivery, these drones were said to have been refurbished at the LORTA plant located in Lviv.
