Egypt Urges Offering Political, Financial Support To Palestinian Authority
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
CAIRO, Sept 26 (KUNA) -- Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty appealed to all participants in the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC) to provide political and financial support to the Palestinian Authority (PA).
Abdelatty made the statement on Friday during a meeting held within the framework of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Friday.
Abdelatty said the PA is facing a number of difficulties due to the Israeli occupation measures, which are an explicit breach of the Oslo Accords, it added.
He noted that the committee's results affirmed that a genocide was committed against Palestinian civilians.
He underlined the significance of an immediate ceasefire and backing efforts by Egypt, Qatar and the United States, warning that the recent Israeli occupation attack on Gaza undermines peace efforts.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's categorical rejection of any attempt to displace Palestinians through turning Gaza into an area on which people could not live.
He elaborated that such endeavors threaten regional stability and security.
Egypt has been committed to working with international partners to carry out the Islamic-Arab plan for the early recover and the rebuilding of Gaza, a pivotal step to help Palestinians stay on their territory under a unified legitimate authority, he said.
The minister urged participating countries to back Egypt's hosting of an international conference on rebuilding Gaza as soon a ceasefire is implemented, the statement concluded. (end)
