Tennant Expands European Production Of Autonomous Cleaning Robots
September 24, 2025 by Sam Francis
Tennant Company , a manufacturer professional robotic cleaning technology, says it is expanding its autonomous mobile robot (AMR) manufacturing at its Uden factory in the Netherlands, to meet growing demand across the EMEA region.
The move includes the start of European production for Tennant's latest innovation, the X4 ROVR – a compact, AI-powered robotic floor scrubber designed for high-traffic commercial environments such as airports, shopping centres, and hospitals.
This follows the successful roll out of T16AMR production in Uden since January 2025 and reflects Tennant's strategy to localise manufacturing, reduce environmental impact, and accelerate delivery times for European customers.
Sylvain Rottier, VP and general manager, Tennant EMEA, says:“Automation is scaling across EMEA. By manufacturing both the T16AMR and X4 ROVR in Europe, we're enabling our customers to access next-generation robotic cleaning solutions faster, with the added reassurance of EU-based data handling and local service support.”
Over the past 12 months, Tennant has seen an increase in AMR deployments across EMEA, with adoption rising in sectors such as retail, logistics, healthcare, and manufacturing. The company's global AMR fleet – powered by BrainOS, the leading AI software for robotic cleaning – has now surpassed 10,000 deployed units globally.
The Uden expansion enhances Tennant's ability to meet this demand while advancing sustainability targets. Local production reduces transatlantic shipping, lowers emissions, and allows Tennant to better support region-specific needs.
Michel Spruijt, president of Brain Corp International, says:“Companies across Europe are investing in autonomy not just for productivity, but also to solve labour shortages, improve sustainability, and unlock real-time operational insights. The X4 ROVR, manufactured locally and powered by BrainOS, is purpose-built for this new era.”
Meanwhile, data collected by the AMRs remains secure and compliant. Tennant's European customers benefit from:
-
Robots made in Europe
Data stored and processed within the EU
Full alignment with GDPR and enterprise IT policies
Both the X4 ROVR and the new X6 ROVR will be showcased live at CMS Berlin 2025, with hands-on demonstrations and expert walkthroughs at the Tennant and Brain Corp booth – Hall 1.2, stand 221.
