SBU Drones Strike Gazprom Plant In Bashkortostan For The Second Time In A Week - Source

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Sources within the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) confirmed the strike to Ukrinform.

“This is one of the largest oil refining and petrochemical plants in Russia. It produces around 150 types of products, including automotive gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, and polyethylene. The distance from Ukrainian territory to the target is approximately 1,400 kilometers,” the source stated.

Following multiple drone impacts by the SBU's A unit, a fire broke out at the plant. A massive column of black smoke is rising into the air. Local authorities report that they are currently assessing the extent of the damage.

“The SBU continues to carry out precision deep strikes on facilities that fund the war against our country. The season of 'cotton' (explosions – ed.) at Russian oil refineries is in full swing. The 'gas station country' must finally realize that its aggression against Ukraine is coming at a steep cost,” the SBU source added.

According to the Telegram channel ASTRA , the head of Bashkortostan confirmed the attack and the fire at the region's largest oil refining complex, Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat. Emergency services are currently working at the site.

Data from Rusprofile indicates that in 2024, Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat generated 303 billion rubles in revenue, with a net profit of 4.4 billion rubles (approximately $52 million).

As previously reported by Ukrinform, on September 18, drones attacked Gazprom's petrochemical complex in the Russian city of Salavat, located roughly 1,500 kilometers from Ukraine's border.

The fuel crisis in Russia, which began after Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries, has now spread to 20 regions and several Ukrainian territories occupied by Russian forces.
