Egyptian Singaporean Leaders Discuss Mideast Situation

CAIRO, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi and his Singaporean peer Tharman Shanmugaratnam discussed on Saturday bilateral cooperation and the Middle East situation.
The two leaders held closed-door talks followed by a broader meeting of the two sides' delegations that focused on boosting collaboration in varied fields, Egypt's presidential Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shennawy said in a press release.
During the talks, Al-Sisi stressed broader horizons of developing economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, amid alluring opportunities in Egypt, it added.
The Singaporean leader extolled development in Egypt, and promising chances of investment, along Egypt's vital role in backing regional stability and security.
The talks covered some domains like trade, ports management, digital transformation, cultural cooperation, and regional and international situations mainly the Middle East region, it stated.
Al-Sisi reviewed Egypt efforts aiming to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the entry of humanitarian aid as well as the release of hostages, reiterating Egypt's rejection of displacing Palestinians from their land, according to the statement. Al-Sisi commended Singapore's humanitarian aid for Gazans.
The visit witnessed the signing of some memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in agriculture, health, maritime transportation, social protection and small and medium-sized projects support and others. (end)
