First Made-In-India Fast Patrol Vessel ICGS Adamya Commissioned At Paradip Port


(MENAFN- KNN India) Bhubaneswar, Sep 20 (KNN) The Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) 'Adamya', the first in a series of eight Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs), was commissioned at Paradip Port, Odisha, on September 19, 2025.

The 51-metre vessel has been designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited with over 60 percent indigenous content, showcasing India's Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative in the maritime sector.

Based at Paradip, ICGS Adamya will function under the operational and administrative control of the Commander, ICG Region (North East), through Commander, ICG District Headquarters No. 7 (Odisha).

Manned by five officers and 34 personnel, the vessel will be deployed for coastal surveillance, law enforcement, and other duties under the Coast Guard charter to safeguard India's maritime interests.

Displacing approximately 320 tons, the ship is powered by two 3,000 kW diesel engines enabling a top speed of 28 knots and an endurance of 1,500 nautical miles at economical speed.

Adamya is the first Coast Guard vessel fitted with indigenously developed controllable pitch propellers and gearboxes, designed to enhance manoeuvrability, operational flexibility, and sea performance.

The ship's armament includes a 30 mm CRN 91 gun and two 12.7 mm stabilised remote-controlled machine guns, supported by advanced fire control systems.

Additional features include an Integrated Bridge System, Integrated Platform Management System, and Automated Power Management System, aimed at improving operational efficiency and automation.

The induction of ICGS Adamya is expected to augment India's maritime security capabilities, reinforcing the Coast Guard's commitment to ensuring safe, secure, and clean seas.
