Dry Gas Seal – Working Principles
A dry gas seal is a non-contacting, gas-lubricated mechanical seal in which a rotating mating ring with spiral-groove geometry creates a hydrodynamic pressure film between the seal faces. At only 3–5 μm film thickness, the process gas (nitrogen, CO2 or clean air) forms a barrier that prevents product leakage to atmosphere without the need for liquid buffer fluids.
