Gas Blast in Russia Takes Five Lives
(MENAFN) At least five individuals lost their lives and seven sustained wounds following a gas explosion in a residential complex located in Saratov, Russia, on Friday, according to the Emergency Situations Ministry.
Rescue teams remain active at the location, as authorities suspect that additional victims may be trapped beneath the debris.
The ministry noted that around 20 experts, "search dogs", and eight pieces of specialized machinery are currently involved in the efforts.
Initial assessments suggest that over 30 flats might have been "damaged or destroyed", with fears of further structural collapse persisting, the ministry reported.
In response to the event, local officials have implemented a "regime of regional emergency".
