Nigerian military release statement of arresting twenty-one individuals

(MENAFN) The Nigerien army has announced the arrest of 21 individuals suspected of terrorism in the country’s southeastern Zinder region. The arrests occurred on July 13 during a routine operation in which the suspects were intercepted while traveling in five vehicles.

According to a military statement broadcast on national television, 13 of the suspects are foreign nationals, while the other eight are Nigerien citizens. A search of the vehicles revealed items with potential military use, including camouflage clothing, communication and surveillance equipment, fuel containers, cash, and a significant stockpile of food.

The detainees and confiscated materials have been transported to the capital, Niamey, and handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.
