Amman, July 15 (Petra) -- Ten new projects in the fields of digital economy, telecommunications, and cybersecurity were completed in June, according to a government report outlining the latest achievements of ministries and public institutions in these sectors.
The report, released Monday by the Ministry of Government Communications, highlighted several milestones led by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship. Among them was the launch of "Tawasul," the country's first unified digital platform designed to enhance public participation in policy and decision-making. The platform allows citizens and stakeholders to provide feedback on draft laws, government strategies, and national initiatives.
Another key development was the pilot launch of smart gates at Queen Alia International Airport. The project, implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Transport, security agencies, the Airport International Group, and the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, aims to simplify travel procedures for Jordanian travelers through automated clearance systems.
In the telecommunications sector, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) introduced new emergency guidelines requiring telecom operators to maintain service continuity during crises. The TRC was also tasked with coordinating implementation efforts alongside relevant government agencies.
Additionally, the TRC approved a set of competition protection regulations aimed at enhancing market efficiency. The rules are part of ongoing efforts to implement the national policy for the telecommunications, IT, and postal sectors, originally adopted in 2018, and to align with Jordan's competition law and global regulatory practices.
To support future market regulation, the commission initiated a comprehensive review of the national telecommunications market. A tender was launched to select a global consulting firm for the project, and the first phase, preparing terms of reference and reviewing proposals, is already underway. Meanwhile, frequency spectrum surveys were conducted in the 900 MHz band in Aqaba as part of efforts to resolve interference issues attributed to smart water meters used by the Aqaba Water Company.
In the area of cybersecurity, the National Cybersecurity Center issued its first-quarter security status report for 2025 and trained 29 teachers in basic cybersecurity under the "Cyber Toolkit" program, aimed at transferring knowledge to students. The center also launched a national awareness competition titled "Cyber Snapshot," encouraging the creation of cybersecurity-focused content.
Jordan Post reported progress in expanding its legal notification services. It introduced additional channels for delivering judicial notices, including those related to regular and religious courts, as well as property partition cases, through post offices across the Kingdom. These services supplement existing procedures used by liaison officers in the courts and land registry departments.
