Tourist Boat Overturns in Pakistan, Two Dead, Three Missing

(MENAFN) At least two women lost their lives and three individuals, including two children and a teenager, are still unaccounted for following the capsizing of a tourist boat in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to rescue officials on Sunday.

The accident took place on Saturday evening in the picturesque but remote Shahi Bagh region, located roughly two and a half hours from Kalam bazaar. The vessel, which was carrying a mix of men, women, and children, overturned after suffering an engine malfunction, as reported by the state-operated emergency service Rescue 1122.

"At least two women were confirmed dead, and three people, including two children and a teenager, are still missing," said Bilal Ahmad Faizi, spokesperson for Rescue 1122 KP, in a statement to a news agency.

Emergency responders managed to pull five people from the water, all of whom sustained
injuries and were transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment, the official added.

Specialized rescue units trained in water operations have been dispatched to the site as efforts continue to locate the missing individuals.
