Israeli Minister Claims US Republican Supports Attacks on Gaza Aid Centers

(MENAFN) Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir asserted on Wednesday that members of the U.S. Republican Party endorse his controversial proposal to strike humanitarian supply depots in the heavily bombarded Gaza Strip.

The hardline official attended a dinner event held at U.S. Leader Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on Tuesday night.

The gathering included Republican figures and business leaders.

In a subsequent declaration, Ben-Gvir stated that prominent Republicans at the venue supported “his clear position on how to act in Gaza, and that the food and aid warehouses should be bombed."

He maintained that such action is the method "to create military and political pressure (on Hamas) to bring our hostages home safely."

As of now, the Republican Party has not released a formal reaction to Ben-Gvir’s remarks.

Ben-Gvir landed in the United States on Monday for his inaugural official visit to Washington since becoming part of Premier Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet in 2022.

Currently, Israeli authorities estimate that 24 of the 59 hostages still held in Gaza remain alive.

Simultaneously, over 9,500 Palestinians are incarcerated in Israeli detention facilities, with multiple allegations of abuse, including torture, deprivation of food, and medical neglect, resulting in the deaths of some prisoners.
