Macron Assures French People: Aid To Ukraine Will Not Burden Taxpayers

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS, March 28 (KUNA) -- French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday assured the French people that aid to Ukraine that has increased by USD 2.15 billion would not be extracted from "illicit or additional taxes."
Macron in remarks on Instagram said these allocations were secured according to the state military programming and European funding within the framework of the Group-7. Therefore, the aid would not be secured with clandestine or additional taxes, he said, affirming that reports in this regard were false.
The assistance to Ukraine is not useless, Macron said, for "our security is at stake."
If France abstains from playing its role as part of the collective security in Europe, "our security and interests will be compromised," he added.
The new package declared during a recent meeting between Macron and the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky includes anti-tank rockets, air defense systems, surface-to-air missiles, tanks, ammunition and pilotless aircraft. (end)
