U.S. Imposes Penalties on Argentina's Former President for Corruption
(MENAFN) On Friday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the United States had designated Argentina's previous Leader Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner along with former Planning Minister Julio Miguel De Vido for "their involvement in significant corruption."
This move makes Kirchner, De Vido, as well as their immediate family members impermissible to go to the United States, according to Rubio's statement.
Rubio accused them of exploiting their positions by "orchestrating and financially benefiting from multiple bribery schemes" related to public works contracts, which led to millions of dollars being embezzled from the Argentine government. He also highlighted that several courts had condemned them for corruption.
