El Salvador Relocates Gang Members to Mega-Prison
(MENAFN) El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele announced that 238 members of the Tren de Aragua gang and 23 MS-13 members deported from the U.S. have arrived in San Salvador.
He stated on X that the gang members would be relocated to the CECOT mega-prison, emphasizing that, in the long run, these actions, along with the "Zero Free Time" program encompassing over 40,000 prisoners, would help make the prison system self-sufficient.
The deportees included two senior gang leaders, with one being a prominent figure in MS-13.
He stressed that these measures will enhance intelligence operations to dismantle gang networks. He further noted: "Our work will continue to expose the full network, including former and new members, money, weapons, drugs, hideouts, collaborators and sponsors."
In his final remark, Bukele reiterated his administration’s dedication to combating organized crime, supporting allies, achieving a self-sustaining prison system, and gathering crucial security intelligence. "All in a single operation."
