iPhone 15 leads 2024 sales amid GenAI surge

(MENAFN) A recent report has indicated that Iphone 15 from Apple as the top-selling mobile phone worldwide over the past year, leaving competitors behind who are primarily seizing the consistent rise of generative AI (GenAI) in mobile devices.

Although the iPhone 15 doesn’t have Apple Intelligence built in, which launched in September, five out of ten of the most in-demand smartphones are generative equipped with generative AI, indicating a transition to this groundbreaking technology, according to the yearly report by Counterpoint Research released on Monday. The Cupertino, California firm has sustained its leading position since Counterpoint began monitoring the sales data of the globe in the year of 2018.

A year ago, it dominated with six spots in the top ten for sales, driven by its entry-level premium device and four that are powered by generative AI. These four involve the flagship iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro, which came in the second and third ranks in that order. In the fifth and ninth ranks respectively came iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro which are part of the present collection for Apple.
