Trump urges Palestinians to relocate to ‘beautiful’ location

(MENAFN) US President Donald trump has suggested the permanent resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring countries, calling the enclave a “demolition site” that is no longer habitable. Trump, speaking before a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, proposed finding a new, more peaceful and secure location for Palestinians to live, one that would offer a better quality of life and safety.

Trump emphasized that Gaza is in ruins, with around 92% of homes destroyed or severely damaged, and warned of dangerous conditions due to the presence of explosives. He proposed that countries like Jordan and Egypt host displaced Palestinians, although these nations have previously rejected such resettlement plans. This proposal has drawn criticism, with regional leaders, including Egypt, Jordan, and the Palestinian Authority, expressing concern that it would destabilize the region and undermine peace efforts.

Netanyahu did not directly comment on Trump's proposal but thanked him for his leadership in securing a fragile ceasefire in Gaza. Meanwhile, Palestinian representatives, including the Palestinian Ambassador to the UN and Hamas officials, rejected the plan, affirming that Palestinians want to rebuild Gaza and return to their original homes.
