Panama Advances With Construction Of The Workers' Health Institute

(MENAFN- Newsroom Panama) The Dr. Francisco Díaz Mérida Workers' health Institute, which is 94% complete, will be one of the most modern facilities in Panama, designed to offer prompt, high-quality medical care to the country's working class. This flagship project will feature cutting-edge technology and specialized equipment for efficient rehabilitation and rapid reintegration into the workforce.
During a recent inspection of the project, the Deputy Director General of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Ing. Rogelio Gordón, highlighted the importance of this institute, calling it“a first-world project” that will greatly benefit Panamanian workers, both for its infrastructure and for the medical services it will provide.
The new Institute will house a Specialized Center for Occupational Medicine, where workers will be able to access consultations in various specialties, such as ophthalmology, cardiology, dermatology, orthopedics, otorhinolaryngology, speech therapy and occupational medicine. In addition, the center will have state-of-the-art medical equipment, such as magnetic resonance imaging and a computerized axial tomography scanner.
Another key component will be the Work Rehabilitation and Professional Readaptation Centre, which will offer services in areas such as effort tolerance, work simulation and a comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment of occupational health and safety. Doctors, psychologists and social workers will work at this centre to ensure comprehensive care.
The Institute will also facilitate the process of reintegration into the workforce, managing with employers the safe return of workers to their jobs and offering occupational therapy, occupational psychology and occupational social work services.
With this facility, Panama takes a significant step towards improving the health and well-being of its workforce, guaranteeing efficient medical care and comprehensive support in the recovery and return to work process.
