Doha, Qatar: Over 400 healthcare professionals from Qatar and the Arab region attended 14th Pan-Arab Transfusion medicine conference held in Doha from November 30 to December 2, 2024.
The event brought together leading local and international experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals from across the world to discuss the latest advancements and challenges in transfusion medicine.
Hosted by the Transfusion Medicine Division (TRM) of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) under the auspices of the Arab Authority for Blood Transfusion Services (AABTS), the event sought to advance transfusion medicine practices by addressing region-specific challenges, sharing the latest advancements, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.
The event was held in collaboration with the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB), the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT), and the Qatar Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP).
Chair of Clinical Services, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP) at HMC, Dr. Einas Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari said the conference gathered people from both the region and around the world, all united by a shared commitment to advancing the field of transfusion medicine.
“This conference underscored the importance of transfusion medicine in improving patient outcomes," he said.
President of the Arab Authority for Blood Transfusion Services (AABTS) and Executive Director of Transfusion Medicine at HMC, Dr. Aysha Ibrahim Al Malki said the event welcomed distinguished speakers, and experts in the field of blood transfusion, who shared valuable insights and experiences.
Dr. Sara Adel Salim, Chair of the Conference Scientific Planning Committee and Head of Transfusion Medicine, said the conference programme was designed to bring participants up to date with the latest research and practices in the field.
