BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 22. The
Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF) is set to invest in the
construction of the "Bazarbay Ata-3" mini hydropower plant with a
capacity of 600 kW in the Kadamjay district of the Batken region of
Kyrgyzstan, Trend
reports.
The project is valued at 40.1 million soms ($469,000), with RKDF
contributing over half of the total amount-22 million soms
($257,309).
According to RKDF Chairman Artem Novikov, the fund is currently
implementing seven major projects in the Batken region, including
the construction of a gas concrete plant and a school in Halmyon in
Kadamjay district.
"Today, we are signing another agreement for the construction of
a mini-hydropower plant. I hope that once it is completed and the
first electricity flows into the Kyrgyz energy grid, local
residents will permanently forget about electricity shortages,"
Novikov stated.
Project documentation indicates that once operational, the
"Bazarbay Ata-3" mini HPP will generate 5.2 million kWh of
electricity annually. This will address electricity supply issues
for nearby villages, including Markaz (population 8,200) and
Sary-Altyn (population 1,500), as well as parts of Kadamjay
district.
