Ninth Annual AIIB Governors' Meeting Kicks Off In Uzbekistan's Samarkand


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) SAMARKAND, Uzbekistan, September 25. The annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is kicking off in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Trend reports from the scene.

This is the first time the bank is hosting an event in Central Asia. The theme of this year's meeting is "Building Sustainable Infrastructure for All".

The opening ceremony marks the start of the Ninth Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors, with speeches from the Board members, the President of Uzbekistan, and the President of AIIB.

The event will run from September 25-26, 2024, featuring over 25 panel discussions. These discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including innovations in infrastructure financing, climate resilience, sustainable development, and the digital transformation of infrastructure projects.

The AIIB is a multilateral development bank focused on financing sustainable, eco-friendly, and technologically advanced infrastructure to improve the social and economic well-being of people across Asia and beyond. Currently, the AIIB has 109 member countries. Its core priorities include supporting sustainable infrastructure, enhancing cross-border connectivity, and mobilizing private capital.

In Central Asia, the AIIB plays a crucial role in fostering regional connectivity, improving energy and water resource management, and driving economic growth-aligning with its vision of financing the infrastructure of the future.
