Azerbaijan, Commonwealth Of Nations Ink Documents On Margins Of Pacific Islands Forum Ahead Of COP29


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 27. Azerbaijan has signed a joint declaration and memorandum of understanding with the Commonwealth of Nations on the margins of the Pacific Islands Forum in Tonga, the publication of the official page of COP29 on X said, Trend reports.

“Azerbaijan signed a Joint Declaration and Memorandum of Understanding with the Commonwealth of Nations to inform, guide, and support climate policies in the countries of the association. This marked a turning point to strengthen the COP29 presidency's commitment to making the voices of least developed countries and small island states heard,” the publication reads.

Furthermore, COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev met with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga, Siaosi Ofakiwahafolau Sovaleni, and expressed his gratitude for meeting with the COP29 Chairmanship at the Pacific Islands Forum.

“We will continue to support islands across the Pacific in the struggle against climate change,” Babayev noted.
