Chatgpt: Revolutionizing Assignments Or Stifling Creativity?

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) "My class teacher said that tomorrow is the last date to submit the assignment. If anyone misses it, she won't accept it." "What? What are we going to do? Listen, can you give me your assignment? I'll mix it up with some stuff from the internet." "Why bother? Just download ChatGPT! It will do everything from A to Z." "Really?" "Of course! I used it myself. Besides, do you think the teacher is going to check every word?" "Alright then, problem solved!"

Conversations like this have become quite common since the invention of ChatGPT. Whether it's an assignment, a report, a speech, a research paper, or a presentation, ChatGPT seems to be the go-to solution for many. But before diving deeper, it's essential to understand what ChatGPT is.

ChatGPT is a sophisticated form of artificial intelligence that provides answers to questions in a chat format. Unlike existing tools like Google Assistant, Alexa, or Siri, which mainly convert your spoken words into text, ChatGPT offers comprehensive information on various topics.

But have you ever wondered where this information comes from and how it is generated? The data ChatGPT provides is derived from various sources on the internet, including books, websites, research papers, and social media platforms. It's important to note that many of these sources are not verified.

The information provided by ChatGPT is often so detailed and organized that students and others might think their work is done in a snap. But what guarantee is there that this information is 100% accurate? Often, we include irrelevant details in our assignments because ChatGPT supplies all sorts of information related to the topic without understanding the specific scope of the assignment.

Recently, I had a personal experience related to this. A student approached me with a report, and upon reviewing it, I found that the content had no relevance to the actual topic. When I asked about it, the student admitted that the report was based on an outline generated by ChatGPT. Are we relying so heavily on tools like ChatGPT that we forget to distinguish between right and wrong?

Undoubtedly, ChatGPT helps us understand complex topics easily and clear our concepts. However, this doesn't mean we should rely on it completely. It should be used to a certain extent, for example, to understand new topics or to find solutions to problems.

But remember, no machine, robot, or an advanced tool like ChatGPT can ever fully replace human intellect and reasoning. We shouldn't forget that ChatGPT and similar applications are the result of human creativity and ingenuity. Human-created content still holds superiority over other things, which is why educational institutions, broadcasting agencies, and companies use plagiarism detection tools.

Excessive use of ChatGPT can potentially stifle human creativity. And this harm is solely ours to bear.
