Uzbekistan To Hold Parliamentary Election


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 26. Uzbekistan will hold an election for deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) and deputies to regional, city, and district councils on October 27, Trend reports.

This decision was made at a meeting held by Uzbekistan's Central Election Commission.

At the same time, following Article 128 of the constitution of Uzbekistan and Articles 14 and 36 of the Electoral Code of Uzbekistan, the election of deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan's Oliy Majlis and local councils will be held on October 27, 2024.

The Central Election Commission, based on the terms established by the Constitution and the Electoral Code of Uzbekistan, announced that starting from July 26, 2024, the election campaign for the election of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and local councils begins, and approved the calendar.

Meanwhile, under Article 128 of the Constitution, election to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the Parliament of Karakalpakstan, and the representative bodies of State power in the provinces, districts, and towns are held in the year in which their constitutional term of office expires, on the first Sunday of the third decade of October.
