FBI claims Trump shooter did research on JFK assassination

(MENAFN) During testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, FBI Director Christopher Wray disclosed details about Thomas Michael Crooks, the assailant who targeted former President Donald trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Wray revealed that Crooks, aged 20, had extensively researched the assassination of President John F. Kennedy just days before the attack on July 13, where he shot Trump in the ear from an unguarded rooftop, killing one person and injuring two others before being killed by Secret Service snipers.

According to Wray, an examination of Crooks’ computer uncovered that on July 6, the same day he registered for the Trump rally, he conducted a Google search asking, "how far away was Oswald from Kennedy," referencing Lee Harvey Oswald, the alleged assassin of JFK in 1963. Wray emphasized the significance of this search, indicating Crooks' state of mind and fixation on the upcoming rally.

Despite these findings, Wray's testimony did not definitively clarify Crooks' motivations. The FBI director asserted that Crooks had no accomplices or co-conspirators and refrained from speculating on his political affiliations. Prior to focusing on Trump, Crooks had conducted numerous searches on public figures, reflecting a broader interest in prominent individuals.

Wray cautioned that the current environment poses risks for public officials, highlighting the need for heightened security measures. He stressed that individuals in positions of prominence face potential threats, underscoring the challenges and dangers associated with public visibility in contemporary times.
