Russia prohibits 13 Japanese nationals from entering nation

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Russia unveiled a significant diplomatic countermeasure by announcing that 13 high-ranking executives from major Japanese companies would be barred from entering the country. This move comes as a direct retaliation for Japan's restrictive actions against Moscow. The decision was disclosed through a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, which provided details on the individuals affected by this sanction.

Among those blacklisted are prominent figures such as Tanaka Akihiko, the president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Akio Toyoda, the Chairman of the Board at Toyota Motor Corporation. Additionally, Hiroshi Mikitani, the founder of Rakuten Corporation, is also included in the list. These individuals have been selected for the sanctions due to their significant roles and influence within their respective organizations.

The sanctions extend beyond these well-known figures to encompass other Japanese business leaders. This broader list of targeted individuals reflects a deliberate effort by Russia to impose economic and diplomatic pressure in response to Japan's recent measures, which have been aimed at curbing Russia's actions on the international stage. The travel ban signifies a deepening of the discord between the two countries, highlighting the ongoing strain in their bilateral relations and the escalating tensions resulting from their conflicting geopolitical stances.
