KABUL (Pajhwok): Some youths have termed unemployment a huge problem, blamed past governments for negligence in the area of jobs creation and asked the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) to prioritise employment generation.
they said besides suffering from unemployment some people published fake job vacancies to increase their followers, in addition, some offices deceived youths to earn money.
Acting government, however, said that job generation was its top priority and added that in the past three years job opportunities had been generated for youths in different fields.
IEA should priorities job generation: Youths
Arzo, the resident of Kabul City, told Pajhwok Afghan News:“I have no job from the past three years; I applied in some offices but could not find work.”
She termed jobs announced in facebook and other social media platforms fake and added:“All these announcements are false; they are released for getting more comments and likes or for any other purpose.”
She criticised the past governments and said:“During Ashraf Ghani's government, every agency he approached would be ineffective, bribery and reference was the criteria, merit and knowledge was completely ignored.”
Referring to job advertisements in the social media, she said:“Many sites advertise and post links, when you try to open it, it doesn't open, some job offices charge money on applicants, when you submit the form, they find work three times, whether it is suitable or not and say we found a job three times was not suitable for you.”
Arzu dubbed unemployment as a major problem for the youths and said that if most of the educated youth migrate because of the lack of work, in many cases they will be victims of bad fate.
She also asked the IEA to prioritize employment and eliminating unemployment.
Habibullah, 20, a youth who visited some public and private offices for a job said:“Currently, I am a third-year student at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, Kabul University. I know English and computers very well; I wanted to do practical work but could not able to find a place for myself.”
He is worried about his future that he like other youths would remain jobless after graduation.“The IEA should prioritise employment generation,” he demanded.
This is not only the youths of Kabul complaining about unemployment but some youth nationwide have complained against unemployment.
Zarin Hamidi, a resident of Mazar-i-Sharif who is jobless from the past six years, said:“Since I have been unemployed I have searched job advertisement sites and applied for hundreds of jobs but received no positive response.”
He sai:“I visited offices several times fill out the form and got the pledges I will get a job but I get no positive response.”
He termed unemployment a major problems and said:“Ghani and Karzai have done nothing for employment, every day unemployment increases, every office I visited hired people on the bases of relationship now it was government responsibility to fill out the vacuum and generate jobs.”
Najiba, a resident of Bamyan province, said:“Three years ago after the victory of the IEA I lost my job, now I stay at home and push the life with immense difficulties.”
She complained against economic problems and said:“The IEA government should give priority to the employment generation programmes and create jobs for men and women otherwise the country could not progress.”
Ziaulhaq, a resident of Ferozkoh City, said he was graduated from Farsi Literature Faculty of Ghor University five years ago but was unable to find job for himself.
He said:“When I graduated from university, I tried hard, but I couldn't find a job. I was forced to go to Iran illegally, I went through a lot of problems and did hard work, I returned from Iran after three years because the work was heavy.”
He also asked the acting government to generate work opportunities and help address their problems.
Najibullah, one of the farmers in Ghor province, said that recent flash floods destroyed their lands and they suffered from economic problems and unemployment.
He also asked the acting government to give top priority to job generating schemes.
Online job advertisements labeled as fake
A facebook page Kankor Scholarships Jobs in one of its posts advertised over 300 jobs in international organisations, UN and embassies in Kabul for the graduates of 12th class, 14th class, bachelor and master degree holders.
Ajmal Quraishi, one of the facebook users commented:“All of these are falsification, don't believe, the purpose is to tease people, what is their connection with the advertisement of jobs in international organisations and embassies with higher salaries for 12th class graduates.”
In addition, a facebook page Afghan Jobs advertised 58 jobs at Agha Khan Welfare Organisation on its social media page.
One of the facebook users Jan Mohammad commented on this post and wrote:“Don't make the people fool.”
Emal Akbari wrote:“all this is lie.”
Unemployment main source of all problems: Experts
Abdul Zahir Ibrahimi, a social affairs expert, told Pajhwok Afghan News:“The information we have, unfortunately, every day at least 6 to 10 people from different walks of life leave the country, they migrate to Iran or Pakistan and to other countries because there is no work for them and they are in a bad economic situation. The majority of these young people immigrate through smuggling, they endure many difficulties and hardships on the way, they are insulted and humiliated by smugglers, beaten and caught by Iranian border guards, and dozens of other problems.”
He added that the IEA could provide work for young people in Ghor and other provinces by launching development projects, activating commercial companies and manufacturing factories
IEA striving to generate employment opportunities: Mujahid
Zabihullah Mujahid, the IEA spokesperson, told Pajhwok Afghan News:“The acting government always tried to generate job opportunities and engage young people in healthy activities.”
He said:“Only in the mining sector, we can say that about 150,000 people have been employed and the job search in the offices has also increased, compared to the past, people who work in the government framework are 1.4 million, and all of them are paid on time.”
Mujahid said in all departments' jobs are advertised, youths and educated people are appointed after an examination process.
He added:“Mega projects have been launched for the purpose of job creation, investment is still being attracted in different sectors, the process is going on, but it is still a long way to reach the final level where all young people can work, because we know that when the economy is weak, the problems that It may not be possible to find a solution for them all at once, but over time all problems will be eased, the IEA is serious about finding a job.”
“Inshallah, in the near future, the Ministry of Work and Social Affairs will organize a national job generation conference which would be effective in this regard,” he said.
