Vance assures that Trump will send American to war only when required

(MENAFN) Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, who is running as former President Donald Trump's vice presidential candidate, has pledged that a potential second trump administration would engage American troops in overseas conflicts only when absolutely necessary. Vance, known for his strong opposition to United States involvement in foreign wars, made these remarks during his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Wisconsin.

In his address, Vance criticized current President Joe Biden for his support of trade deals that, according to him, have led to job losses in American manufacturing and for backing the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. He emphasized that in places like small towns in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, the consequences of these policies were evident in both economic decline and military engagement. The crowd responded with chants of “Joe must go” as Vance spoke.

The senator assured that under a Trump administration, American military intervention would be restrained and only undertaken when deemed absolutely necessary. He underscored that, as demonstrated by Trump's past actions, such as the decisive actions taken against ISIS, any military response would be robust and resolute.

Trump's record on foreign conflict is mixed; although he initially supported the Iraq invasion, he later opposed it and refrained from initiating new foreign conflicts during his presidency. While he made efforts to reduce American involvement in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, his administration did authorize significant military actions, including cruise missile strikes on Syria, the assassination of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, and the killing of ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi.
