Microsoft Says Systems' Glitch Causes Worldwide Technical Problems


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAPITALS, July 19 (KUNA) -- Microsoft Corp. announced on Friday that there was a glitch in its global public system, which led to technical problems at several airports in the United States and around the world.
Microsoft said in a statement that this sudden glitch affected many applications and service including operating systems such as Windows, disrupting operations in various sectors including airlines, banks .and several media outlets, noting that they are working dealing with the ongoing repercussions.
For its part, the US federal Aviation Administration asked all flights to land due to a technical glitch in computers and communications that depend on Microsoft systems, disrupting Live broadcasts of several American TV channels, and the (911) service in several US states, as well as Major US airlines.
Meanwhile, Berlin International Airport announced a complete suspension of work due to the technical glitch, causing the cancellation of all flights to and from the German capital's airport, affirming all flights will be suspended until further notice.
The Microsoft outage also impacted flights and operations in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Australia, while Iraq announced that air traffic was not affected by the technical crisis striking around the world.
Furthermore, Jetstar Japan Co. canceled or delayed some of its domestic flights due to system failure, as the systems handling boarding procedures became unusable at airports across the country, including Narita Airport near Tokyo, and have switched to manual boarding procedures, leading to long lines of passengers waiting at the departure counter at Narita Airport.
The technical glitch reportedly paralyzed air travel at several major airports around the world, facing major technical problems that disrupted passenger registration and communications systems.
The US authorities have opened an investigation into the cause, and efforts are underway to fully restore the affected systems. (end)
