Kazakhstan plans to increase gas production by 2.3% in 2024 compared to 2023, to 60.5 billion cubic meters, Azernews reports.

“In recent years, gas production in the country has been steadily growing. The production plan for 2024 is 60.5 billion cubic meters, or 2.3% more than in 2023. The main increase in gas production is envisaged due to large fields such as Karachaganak, Tengiz and Kashagan,” the Minister said.

According to him, commercial gas production in the country by the end of 2024 will amount to 29.8 billion cubic meters, which corresponds to the level of 2023.

The Minister noted that in the first half of 2024, gas production in Kazakhstan amounted to 30 billion cubic meters, including 14.9 billion cubic meters of commercial gas.

In 2024, the production of liquefied petroleum gas is projected at 1.6 million tons (at the level of 2023), of which 0.8 million tons were received in January-June.

The Minister also said that in the period from 2026 to 2030, the country will begin the phased commissioning of 4 gas processing plants: based on the raw materials of the Kashagan field with a capacity of 1 and 2.5 billion cubic meters per year, the Karachaganak field with a capacity of 4 billion cubic meters per year and the KazGPP plant in Zhanaozen with a capacity of 900 million cubic meters per year.
