Tunisia Received Four Mln Tourists In H1-'24


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TUNIS, July 5 (KUNA) -- Tunisian Minister of tourism Mohammad Moez Belhassaine his country received four million tourists during the first half of 2024, an increase of 4.5 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.
During a visit to the tourist island of Djerba, central east Tunisia, on Friday, the minister said the number of arrivals in Tunisia in this period exceeded the number recorded in 2019, which is a reference year.
According to data from the Central bank of Tunisia, revenues from the tourist sector in H1-2024 reached more than USD 895 million.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) added Djerba to the World Heritage List during the 45th session of the World Heritage Committee, held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on September 10, 2023. (end)
