This collaboration, announced on Wednesday in New Delhi, aims to formalise and strengthen Self Help Group (SHG) initiatives through MoMSME's flagship schemes.

This inter-ministerial partnership exemplifies the government's commitment to a holistic approach in addressing rural development challenges. Sharma emphasised that this collaboration would play a crucial role in realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of empowering 'Lakhpati Didis' – women entrepreneurs earning substantial incomes.

The signing ceremony, held at Krishi Bhawan, saw the participation of key officials from both ministries. Swati Sharma, Joint Secretary of MoRD, and Mercy Epao, Joint Secretary of MoMSME, signed the SoI in the presence of Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, MoRD, SCL Das, Secretary, MoMSME, and Charanjit Singh, Additional Secretary, MoRD.

Epao highlighted the potential of this partnership to leverage MoMSME's flagship initiatives, including Yeshaswini- Apna Udyam, Apni Pehchaan, and Udyam Assist. These programs are expected to provide robust support to SHG Didis in their entrepreneurial endeavours.

The secretaries of both ministries expressed their appreciation for this convergence and pledged to implement various collaborative measures in line with the SoI. This initiative is expected to create a more conducive environment for rural women to establish and grow their businesses, contributing significantly to India's rural economy.
