University of Banja Luka inks educational deal with Tianjin University


(MENAFN) In a significant step towards strengthening international educational ties, an agreement was signed on Saturday between the University of Banja Luka and Tianjin University of Technology and Education. The signing took place in Republic of Srpska, one of the entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), marking a milestone in academic cooperation.

Zeljko Budimir, Minister of Science and Technology Development and Higher Education of Republic of Srpska, highlighted the strategic partnership with China across various sectors. He emphasized the importance of advancing educational collaborations, expressing optimism that the newly signed agreement will promote meaningful exchanges of students and academic staff between the two institutions.

The agreement is set to expand beyond university-level interactions, incorporating secondary and primary schools through initiatives like the Confucius Institute and the Center for Innovation Projects of Engineering Practice. Budimir underscored that these initiatives aim to deepen educational partnerships and enhance understanding between the regions.

Radoslav Gajanin, Rector of the University of Banja Luka, reflected on the longstanding relationship between the two universities, which commenced with the establishment of the Confucius Institute in 2018. He noted that this partnership has significantly contributed to fostering knowledge about Chinese language, culture, and economic developments among students and faculty.

Luo Xiaoru, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka, emphasized the institute's role as a pivotal platform for promoting bilateral academic exchanges. Over the past six years, the Confucius Institute has experienced substantial growth, attracting increasing numbers of students eager to learn about Chinese language and culture. Luo expressed confidence that the new agreement will deepen collaboration further, benefiting both institutions and fostering greater cultural understanding between BiH and China.
