Dubai Tourism experiences growth with 8.12M international visitors in 5 months


(MENAFN) Dubai has seen a notable surge in international tourism, welcoming 8.12 million visitors from January to May this year, marking a nearly 10 percent increase from the same period last year when 7.39 million tourists visited, according to the latest tourism performance report by the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai. The city's appeal spanned across the months, drawing 1.77 million tourists in January, 1.9 million in February, 1.51 million in March, 1.5 million in April, and 1.44 million in May.

Western European nations led the charge as the largest contributors to Dubai's visitor numbers during these months, accounting for 21 percent of the total with approximately 1.728 million tourists. Following closely, South Asia contributed 1.399 million tourists, constituting 17 percent of the total influx. Russia, Eastern Europe, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) collectively formed the third significant group, sending 1.246 million tourists, representing 15 percent of Dubai's visitor base. Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries followed with 1.045 million tourists, making up 13 percent of visitors. The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region contributed 947 thousand tourists, constituting 12 percent, while Northeast and Southeast Asian countries accounted for 9 percent, equivalent to approximately 764 thousand visitors.

Dubai's tourism sector continues to thrive, with diverse global regions contributing to its dynamic growth in visitor numbers, underscoring its enduring appeal as a global travel destination.
