Irbid's Food Sector Increased Its Industrial Investments-ICI

Irbid, June 29 (Petra) - The food sector has achieved a "qualitative" addition to the growth of industrial investment in Irbid governorate over the past two decades, along with the other industries.
This effort raised the volume of the northern governorate's exports to about $1.4 billion annually and formed a "strong" support for the national industry, which jumped from $1 billion to more than $11 billion annually, according to official data.
With this growth in the volume of Irbid's industrial exports and supply the local market with its products, which exceeded 300% over the past years, Irbid's food and catering industries sector now occupies the 2nd place following the knitting and leather sector, with its contribution of about 8% of the governorate's exports.
In this context, Chairman of the Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICI), Hani Abu Hassan, said the industrial sector witnessed "significant" growth during His Majesty King Abdullah II's reign, accompanied by the inflow of foreign investments, of which industrial investment accounted for the largest part, amounting to 70% of the volume of these investments.
Abu Hassan stressed that industrial exports of national origin have reached more than 120 countries.
Regarding industrial investment in Irbid governorate, Abu Hassan stated that it has witnessed "broad" growth over the past years, in parallel with trade "openness" to various countries across the world, which represents "continuous success" stories.
The volume of working capital in the industrial sector increased to more than JD1 billion distributed among 1,700 establishments in Irbid, which export their products go to more than 80 countries across the world, he pointed out.
