(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Ali Bagheri, the acting Foreign Minister of Iran, has emphasized that the Afghan people, in cooperation with neighboring and regional countries, are the primary decision-makers in their country.
He asserted that they [the people] do not allow external actors with a history of destructive interference, who are responsible for the current problems, to intervene.
Late on Sunday, June 16, he shared a message from X on his social media platform about his phone conversation with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban.
In the message from the interim Foreign Minister of Iran, it was stated that“the people of Afghanistan are the main decision-makers of their country in cooperation with neighboring and regional countries and do not allow external actors, who have a history of destructive interference and are responsible for the current problems, to intervene.”
He stressed that Iran, in cooperation and coordination with the Taliban in Afghanistan, will strive to maintain regional stability and security.
According to this Islamic Republic official,“Islamic countries must lead in supporting the Palestinian people and confronting the crimes of the occupying regime.”
Previously, the interim Foreign Minister of Iran had also blamed“foreign interventions” and“occupiers” for Afghanistan's underdevelopment and economic problems.
Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, the country has faced a dire humanitarian crisis. Millions of Afghans are suffering from severe food shortages, lack of medical supplies, and widespread poverty. The situation is exacerbated by the country's isolation, as it remains unrecognized by the international community.
Despite this isolation, the Taliban receives 40 million USD weekly from the US. This financial support contrasts sharply with the lack of international recognition and aid, highlighting the complex and often contradictory dynamics at play in the region. The humanitarian needs of the Afghan people continue to grow as the crisis deepens.
