Can Opener EP Out Now, Available On Spotify, Band Planning Can Opener Festival

(MENAFN- market Press Release) May 22, 2024 9:59 am - Denver post-punk band releases debut EP includes a cover of a cult classic, and sells out local shows.

With only two members they still have a sonic output equivalent to four or more people. Can Opener is a high wire act playing live and also on their tracks. Their heavy rock is tapping into latent demand and proving that hard, post, and punk music can ignite hearts and minds in a chaotic world. They evidence a willingness to revisit proven sounds while adding new conventions. For example the EP includes a cover version of Motorhead's Ace of Spades. Whatever the style, it's heavy.

Can Opener was formed in 2021 by Joe Nelson and Jason Wolf, two long-time Denver locals. Influenced by bands such as Death From Above 1979, Queens of the Stone Age, and Royal Blood, they have evolved into Denver's best (as far as anyone knows, allegedly, some have said) two-piece band. Joe Nelson stars on vocals and drums, with years of experience writing and playing music around Denver. Jason also pulls double-duty holding down the bass line and guitar riffs that contribute to the wall of sound that is Can Opener.

Planning a Can Opener Festival
Do you see that logo? The figure there is performing a can opener dive, also called a jackknife. The band is planning to hold a can opener festival in August around Denver. Tickets will be sold and proceeds will go to charity. The festival will include a can opener dive competition, a freestyle dive competition, a timed competition to open cans, and the band, Can Opener playing live. More details to come on the band's Instagram page and a future press release.

Some Have Said
“They are the reason to leave your house, and not just post-COVID.” - a local fan.
“Great things [to be said] about their show. Well done. Most bands promise to bring a crowd and don't deliver. Let me know when you are ready to book [again] - Jimmy N, owner of Denver venue Monkey Barrel.

The EP is self-titled and is available on Spotify, Apple Music and more. Can Opener continues to play in and around Denver, Colorado to sold-out shows. Please contact ... for interviews, and more info.
