Francis Suarez: Embracing Bitcoin For Salary

(MENAFN- CoinXposure) Francis Suarez, the current mayor of Miami and republican presidential candidate , has stated that he would be willing to receive Bitcoin (BTC) as part of his salary if elected president.

Suarez verified in a podcast interview that he was already receiving a portion of his mayoral salary in Bitcoin and would continue to do so if elected president.

He added that he believed it was crucial to support cryptocurrencies in general and Bitcoin in particular because he sees them as a means to ensure that freedom will always exist.

Suarez characterized Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as a“good hedge and a good check and balance on a monetary system that has become entirely out of control and very political.”

The mayor of Miami also discussed the advantages of blockchain technology and fractionalized investments. He stated that tokenization makes debt and stock investments more accessible to a broader audience.

By directly investing in fractionalized assets, individuals may be able to close the wealth disparity and earn more with less risk.

Cryptocurrencies have become a hot topic amongpresidential candidates, with incumbent Joe Biden and his fiercest competitor, former President Donald Trump, claiming they have no intrinsic value and are“a disaster waiting to happen.”

However, Suarez announced earlier this month that he would accept Bitcoin as a campaign contribution, aligning him with other presidential candidates who have accepted cryptocurrencies, including Robert Kennedy Jr., Ron DeSantis, and Vivek Ramaswamy.

In mid-May, Ramaswamy tweeted,“Bitcoin should not be regulated as a security. During the Bitcoin 2023 conference, he also said he would accept Bitcoin payments for his campaign.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has a remote possibility of becoming the Democratic presidential nominee, has also demonstrated support for crypto.

On the other hand, Florida Governor Ron Desantis, whom many see as Trump's closest rival for the Republican nomination, has voiced his support for Bitcoin very publicly.

On Twitter (now known as X), he launched his campaign by declaring Americans had“every right to use Bitcoin.”

Desantis also criticized legislators and regulators, accusing them of failing to resolve crypto laws and making it difficult for Americans to possess and use cryptocurrencies.

Nevertheless, despite DeSantis's public stance on Bitcoin, Mayor Suarez asserted that all he had heard his opponent say was that he opposes central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).

He added that desantis' opposition to CBDCs was insufficient.“You cannot simply assert that digital currencies issued by central banks are evil,” he said.“Everyone agrees with this. That's a comfortable place to be.”
