(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. Deputy President and
Chairman of the Board of VTB Anatoly Pechatnikov said at the St.
Petersburg International Economic Forum that VTB's representative
office in Iran can already conduct the first transaction at the end
of this year or the beginning of next, trend reports.
The main goal of opening a representative office in Iran,
according to Pechatnikov, is to study the practice of working under
the conditions of restrictions that Iran has been facing for a long
time. So far, no practical deals have been made with Iranian
counterparts. However, the Deputy President expressed confidence
that the first deals are possible at the end of this year or the
beginning of the next. Iran has large transport and port
development programs that are of interest to VTB and the Russian
Ministry of Transport.
Pechatnikov noted that it is necessary to assess the demand from
Iranian partners in order to consider other forms of
cooperation.
In May this year, Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Mines
of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Alireza Peymanpak, announced that
VTB opened its representative office in Iran.
