Samarkand: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan HE Shavkat Mirziyoyev witnessed Tuesday the signing ceremony of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding and cooperation between the governments of the two countries.
HH the Amir and HE the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan witnessed the signing of an agreement on mutual encouragement and protection of investments; a memorandum of cooperation in the field of trade between the State of Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Republic of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade; an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and the prevention of fiscal evasion; an agreement on cooperation and mutual administrative assistance in customs affairs; an agreement on cooperation in the field of recruiting workers; an agreement on exemption from travel visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports; and an agreement on cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research.
They also witnessed the signing of a cooperation program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the period 2023-25; a cooperation program between the Ministry of Justice of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan; a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the fields of youth and sports between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan; a memorandum of understanding between the Doha Municipality in the State of Qatar and the Municipality of Tashkent in the Republic of Uzbekistan to establish friendship relations; a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of culture between the governments of the two countries; a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the field of agriculture and food security between the Ministry of Municipality in the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Agriculture Resources in the Republic of Uzbekistan; a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Municipality in the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Agriculture Resources in the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in the field of plant protection and agricultural quarantine between the governments of the two countries, and a letter of intent between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan for joint cooperation in the field of investment.
Their Excellencies members of the official delegation attended the signing ceremony at the Congress Center in Samarkand.
On the Uzbek side, it was also attended by a number of Their Excellencies ministers and senior officials.
