QU Health Hosts Event Emphasizing Effective Teamwork in Healthcare

(MENAFN) Promoting effective teamwork and interprofessional collaboration in healthcare was the central focus of an event hosted by QU Health at Qatar University (QU). The event, titled 'Being an Effective Team Player,' aimed to underscore the significance of fostering teamwork skills among health professionals.

Bringing together students from various health profession programs at QU and the University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ), the event served as a platform to enhance understanding of the roles and responsibilities of health professionals within a collaborative practice setting. Additionally, it sought to emphasize the advantages of interprofessional learning and explore strategies for improving collaborative healthcare teams, while addressing common communication challenges that can impact both team dynamics and patient safety.

With a total participation of approximately 355 students and 43 facilitators, the event drew students from QU Health's diverse colleges, including the College of Pharmacy, College of Medicine, College of Dental Medicine, and College of Health Sciences, as well as students from UCQ. It offered a valuable opportunity for health profession students to delve into the concepts of interprofessional learning and collaborative practice, enabling them to reflect on approaches for establishing effective teams within the healthcare environment.
