Gazprom assures no intentions to acquire Turkish BOTAS company
(MENAFN) Gazprom, a prominent Russian energy company, has categorically denied recent reports in Turkish media suggesting that it was engaged in negotiations to acquire the Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS). In an official statement, Gazprom refuted the information circulated in several Turkish media outlets, stating that there were no ongoing negotiations or intentions regarding the transfer of BOTAS to its management. The Russian gas giant firmly dismissed these claims as entirely false.
BOTAS, Türkiye's leading public institution in the energy sector, also rejected the allegations made in the reports. It emphasized that there was no basis for the speculation surrounding the sale or transfer of BOTAS to any country or company, including Gazprom. The company firmly stated that such claims were unfounded and lacked any factual basis.
Both Gazprom and BOTAS have taken a clear stance against the rumors circulating in Turkish media, firmly asserting that there were no ongoing negotiations or plans for Gazprom to assume control of BOTAS. The statements from both entities aimed to dispel any misinformation or misinterpretation that may have arisen from the reports. As of now, the status quo remains intact, with BOTAS continuing its operations as the primary energy institution in Türkiye, and Gazprom reaffirming its commitment to its existing activities and partnerships.
