Iran's Exports to Syria Increase by 11.4 Percent in Past Year

(MENAFN) Iran's exports to Syria increased by 11.4 percent in the past Iranian calendar year 1401, according to the spokesman of the Trade Development Committee of the Iranian House of Industry, Mining, and Trade, Ruhollah Latifi. He announced that approximately 147,000 tons of non-oil commodities worth $243.168 million were exported to Syria in the previous year, with a 10.6 percent increase in weight year on year.

Latifi listed a range of products that Iran exported to Syria in the previous year, including foodstuffs, dairy and agricultural products, medicine and medical equipment, metals and steel products, urea fertilizer, valves, motor oil and industrial oil, body, spare parts and car parts, detergent and sanitary products, petrochemical and petroleum products, chemicals and minerals, solvents, constructional materials, thread and fabric, rubber, board, paper and cardboard, ceramics and tiles, shoes, glass and mirrors, containers, locks, turbines, vehicle engines, chillers, elevators, industrial machinery, household appliances, electronic appliances, tractors, sofas, and doors.

The increase in exports to Syria is a positive development for Iran's economy, as it seeks to promote greater trade and investment with its regional neighbors. The growth in exports to Syria may also reflect the success of recent efforts to expand economic cooperation between the two countries.

During a recent visit to Syria by a high-ranking Iranian delegation headed by President Ebrahim Raisi, the two countries signed 15 cooperation documents, highlighting the importance of strengthening economic ties between Iran and Syria. As Iran continues to promote non-oil exports and attract foreign investment, the potential for increased economic cooperation with Syria and other countries in the region is expected to grow in the coming years.
