Italian Prime Minister visits Ukraine on first official trip

(MENAFN) Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni arrived in Kyiv on Tuesday, February 21, marking her first visit to Ukraine. According to reports from ANSA and Ukrinform, the prime minister's visit is expected to include stops in Bucha and Irpin, as well as a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky later in the day. During her visit, Meloni is expected to emphasize Italy's unwavering support for Ukraine, a message she has consistently conveyed since taking office in October 2022.

Meloni's visit comes as Italy has been actively providing both humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine. The Italian government recently approved its sixth aid package for the country, further underscoring its commitment to supporting Ukraine in the face of ongoing conflict and instability.

Prior to her arrival in Kyiv, Meloni met with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw on Monday, February 20. The prime minister's visit to Ukraine is seen as a continuation of Italy's efforts to strengthen ties with Eastern European countries and demonstrate its commitment to stability and security in the region.
