King Meets With Italy President In Rome

Rome, Oct. 14 (Petra) His Majesty King Abdullah II, during a meeting with Italy President Sergio Mattarella in Rome on Tuesday, discussed the long-standing relations between Jordan and Italy, as well as developments in the region.
During the meeting attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, His Majesty's chief adviser for religious and cultural affairs and personal envoy His Majesty emphasised the importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the tourism, trade, investment, culture, and defence sectors, as well as in the area of combating terrorism.
On regional developments, the two leaders asserted the need to ensure implementation of the agreement to end the war in Gaza in all its phases, including the delivery of relief and medical aid to all areas of the Strip.
The two leaders also affirmed their support for the two-state solution, de-escalation in the West Bank, and halting settlement activity.
For his part, the Italian president praised Jordan's humanitarian role in Gaza through the delivery of food and medical aid, and its efforts to secure treatment in Jordanian hospitals for wounded children from Gaza.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan's Ambassador to Italy Qais Abu Daieh attended the meeting.
