Belize Receives Additional Donation Of Medical Supplies From Taiwan

BELMOPAN, Belize – On January 9, 2023, the Ministry of health and wellness received a donation of 5,000 disposable non-surgical isolation gowns and 1,200 units of sanitizers from the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

H.E. David Kuan-Chou Chien, ambassador of Taiwan to Belize, met with Kevin Bernard, Minister of health and wellness, and Dr Julio Sabido, chief executive officer in the ministry, to discuss and exchange ideas to further enhance the medical cooperation between both countries. At the conclusion of the meeting, ambassador Chien handed over the donation to minister Bernard.

The medical supplies, which will be distributed to public health centres and hospitals countrywide, were donated by SimplyHelp Foundation, a Taiwanese charity non-governmental organization based in the United States of America.

Both minister and ambassador reiterated their commitment to strengthening the bilateral medical cooperation between the two countries to improve and safeguard the health and well-being of the citizens.

Ambassador Chien also extended appreciation to minister Bernard for his continuous support of Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly.
