(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Dec 7 (KUNA) -- US Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock won the state of Georgia's runoff election on Tuesday, according to the local media.
Warnock defeated Republican candidate Herschel Walker. His victory gives Democrats 51 Senate seats while the Republicans have 49 seats.
According to the media reports, over 1.8 million Georgians voted early and over one million voted on Tuesday.
No candidate won over 50 percent of votes in the November midterm in Georgia that lead to a runoff. (end)
